In additional to our natural beauty, the beauty of art can be found in our music, theatre and museums. Live performances are brought to the stage by the Brevard Little Theatre and the Flat Rock Playhouse(the state theatre of North Carolina). The past comes to life at the Allison-Deaver house, a circa 1815 mountain homestead, and at theTransylvania Heritage Museum. Literary history can be found at the nearby Carl Sandburg Home and theThomas Wolfe Memorial. In addition, there are many festivals, street fairs & celebrations. Outdoor Activities & Attractions
Some of the best hiking & mountain biking trails in the Eastern United States are located in Dupont State Forest and Pisgah National Forest just minutes away from Ash Grove. The Davidson River, one of the top fly-fishing destinations in the Eastern US, is located in Pisgah Forest. Take Craig Miller's Land of Waterfall Tours to some spectacular falls that are not on the map. Visit the Cradle of Forestry historic site. Do not miss a trip down Sliding Rock, nature's waterslide, or a zipline through the trees. There are 7 golf courses within an hour of ASH GROVE, including Connestee Falls, Sherwood Forest, and Etowah Valley. Close by arehorseback riding canoeing, kayaking & tubing, swimming, Chimney Rock Park, Linville Gorge, Grandfather Mountain Caesar's Head,Gorges State Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Several ski areas are 1-3 hours away. Seasonally, the Blue Ridge Corn Maze is great family fun. Also, while in the area, check out PARI, a former NASA tracking station that is now an astronomical institute with tours, educational programs and star-gazing in the mountains.
